First Grade
I would like 1st grade to start to code. Please go to Code.org and follow the instructions on the small paper I had in the envelope. Some of these games will challenge your child's thinking. The students need to be persistent and try and try again. Sometimes taking a break and going back to it later, can help.

Week of 5/25- 5/29
Last week of Specials for the year. Over the summer, I will leave all students logged into Code.org. If they have some days that they feel like working on coding, they will have this site still available to them.
Monday: Happy Memorial Day!
Tuesday: Code.org Lesson 9 Do parts 5-14
Wednesday: Code.org Lesson 10 Do parts 1-7
Thursday: Code.org Lesson 10 Do Parts 8-14
Friday: It's Friday!! Last STEM DAY I hope this one is a lot of fun for our last project. It is the egg drop. You and your child can try many different ways to experiment if you don't mind using the eggs. The site I have sent you to, talks about protecting an egg from a drop at a certain height by using liquids in plastic bags. This is going to be fun to do, but I would also think about doing this experiment again using any kind of materials. Make a parachute, try sponges, try packing plastic bubble etc... Make a list of all the things you think would protect an egg from a drop. Remember to drop your egg from the same height each time when completing the experiment.
