Young 5's We will continue to study nighttime. This is a schedule of a few things to do this week for the topic of stars. If you have a chance, please do the activities together. Week of 5/25 -5/29
Wednesday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6ivJJ9xb6Q and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAMqb77Dmzk This are two videos to watch about rockets. One is blasting off and the other is reentering Earth's atmosphere with a parachute. The second video has a relationship to the STEM activity you can do with your child on Friday. NASA wants to land the aircraft carefully with parachutes. Friday, if you have time, you and your child can try to "land" an egg without breaking.
Friday: It's Friday!! Last STEM DAY I hope this one is a lot of fun for our last project. It is the egg drop. You and your child can try many different ways to experiment if you don't mind using the eggs. The site I have sent you to, talks about protecting an egg from a drop at a certain height by using liquids in plastic bags. This is going to be fun to do, but I would also think about doing this experiment again using any kind of materials. Make a parachute, try sponges, try the plastic bubbles that come in packages etc... Make a list of all the things you think would protect an egg from a drop. Pick the ones you have at home and think will work the best. Remember to drop your egg from the same height each time when completing the experiment. https://www.steampoweredfamily.com/activities/oobleck-egg-drop-project/
